The July issue of EYE carries a new-style practical section, produced in association with Practical Pre-School, with exciting themes and activities linked to the EYFS seven areas of learning.
The aim of this section is to support practitioners to build on children’s interests and scaffold their learning while allowing them to lead their play. Each article focuses on the Characteristics of Effective learning, providing important insights into how and why learning is happening and how it can be extended – to achieve high quality education.
This month includes:
Communication and language: Tantrums, tears and fun
Use the humorous books of Tony Ross to encourage children to express themselves.
Understanding the World: Shaken and stirred
Experiment with mixing liquids and talk about the exciting changes that result.
Mathematics: Getting into shape
develop children’s mathematical skills by supporting them to cut shapes for a salad.
Expressive Arts and Design: Buttercups and daisies
Be inspired to use natural resources for artworks that reflect the season.
