Have your say about workload pressures in the early years
Thursday, February 14, 2019
As part of a major initiative to tackle workload stress, the Early Years Alliance is asking practitioners about what is pushing them to breaking point in their working lives.
The Early Years Alliance (formerly the Pre-school Learning Alliance) is launching a new project in partnership with the Department for Education and Ofsted to explore workload pressures affecting the early years sector.
The project folllows hot on the heels of its Minds Matter survey on mental health and wellbeing in the early years carried out last summer, which revealed that a significant proportion of the early years workforce are experiencing mental health difficulties. One of the most commonly cited sources of stress was the burden of paperwork and administration.

- When you are riding an emotional rollercoaster
- Taking control of stress
As part of this initiative, the Alliance – working with the DfE and Ofsted – will be running a series of focus groups during April to gather the views of practitioners on current workload demands.
If you would like to attend one of these focus groups, please click here to register your interest.
It will also be launching a sector-wide survey in the spring to ensure that every single practitioner has the opportunity to have their say on this pressing issue.
