Ailsa Chapman reflects on how the warm weather has had a positive impact on learning, providing inspiration for creative activities such as making ice cream parlours using tuff trays.
As temperatures continued to soar, children jumped at the chance to create ice cream parlours using tuff trays. They proved a great opportunity to practise the language of capacity.
What a scorcher! June turned in to July but there was no change in the sweltering weather conditions. The fields and the outdoor areas were parched yellow and consecutive days and then weeks saw nothing but blue skies, high temperatures and the hottest summer I can remember for many years. The children coped brilliantly; we had iced water available at all times, as usual and we encouraged the children to wear their hats, drink plenty of water and seek the shade whenever possible.
