The aim of my activity is to enhance children’s communication and social skills. I used a large tray, some cornflakes and crushed wheat biscuits, dry soil, wet play sand, a mixture of cornflour, water and blue food colouring, cooked spaghetti mixed with green food colouring and small world animals frozen inside ice blocks. I chose an assortment of different sizes to enhance communication – small, large, standing and sitting.

I started by segmenting the different resources around the tray before hiding the frozen plastic animals in the different sections. Children explored the tray, looking for the hidden animals, building their own imagination games.
